Amid the pandemic disruption, smartphone makers are leaving no stone unturned to stay relevant in the mobile space. Apple launched its much-awaited ‘not so cheap’ smartphone- Apple iPhone SE 2020, OnePlus showcased its flagship series for the year- OnePlus 8 & OnePlus 8 Pro this month. Now Realme has added a new device to its 5G lineup- the Realme X50m 5G.

To recall, Realme revealed its first-ever 5G capable phone X50 5G in January this year. In February the company a high spec’d flagship variant- Realme X50 Pro 5G. The latest model Realme X50m 5G which is the third sibling in the company’s 5G mobile shelf is basically a trimmed-down version of the Pro version.

Realme X50m 5G Specifications and Features

The new Realme X50m 5G features a high-refresh-rate display and as the name suggests the device has 5G capability. Unlike the X50 Pro 5G that carries the high-end Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC, the latest model equips a slightly downgraded chipset- Snapdragon 765G that powers the standard X50. The chipset is coupled with Adreno 630 GPU for rendering graphics.

In terms of design, the phone features a design cue similar to the Pro version except the new model flaunts a textured glossy back panel. It sports quad cameras on the rear side which are stacked vertically at the top left corner.

Realme X50m 5G Camera

The Realme X50m 5G has a pill-shaped cutout up front to house the front-facing cameras. The volume rockers sit on the left side slightly lower than the usual position for better reach.

The Realme X50m 5G runs Android 10 based on Realme UI OS.

Realme X50m 5G: Add-ons

The X50m 5G from Realme bundles a few goodies underneath that’s worth taking a look at, for instance, Liquid Copper Tube Cooling 3.0 which means you can drag graphic-intense games for hours without worrying for the device to get heated up.

To sweeten the experience the phone offers Dolby Sound and Hi-Res Audio for better audio quality. For biometrics, the phone has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner (that’s a good move on the company’s part given the in-display fingerprint scanners that are found in new phones these days are less responsive).

The X50m 5G retains the UIS Max video recording feature from Realme 6 Pro. The feature allows recording slow-mo videos at 120fps with the front camera.  The phone supports dual-mode 5G (SA/NSA) courtesy of the Snapdragon 765G chipset. The only downside of the new Realme 5G phone is that it doesn’t have a 3.5mm audio jack which means you will have to adjust with the USB-C port in case you have wired earphones.
